Using Coins to Buy Things

In math we practiced counting money and pretended to buy fruits and vegetables from our partners.  This is very good practice for them.  Anytime you can, allow your child to count coins.

Pumpkin Patch

We had a great time at the pumpkin patch this morning.  We love our pumpkins!  In writing, we wrote pumpkin poems about the pumpkins we saw and bought.
Thank you Lesli for making the awesome Witches Brew project.  It was so cute!

Healthy Choices

We are talking about the food plate in Science right now and making healthy choices at lunch.  Today, the nurse, Mrs. Emerson, came and talked to 2nd grade about nutrition as well.  She talked about the importance of having something from all of the food groups and cutting back on the unhealthy choices.  We will be completing a chart to hang in the cafeteria to help the younger students make good choices at lunch.

Sizing Up Our Stuffed Animals

Thank you for sending a stuffed animal with your child today.  I had some extras for those friends who forgot.  We predicted and measured the length and diameter in inches and centimeters.  We also weighed them using the pan balance and bear counters.

I just noticed, I only got pictures of the boys.  The girls measured too.

Math Games

In Math, we played Domino Top It.  Math games are a great way to reinforce their learning.  Domino top it is a great review for counting and addition facts.  Your child should know their addition facts through five.
