Field Trip

We had a great time today at the Blue Bell Creamery.  The kids behaved well and seemed to really enjoy seeing the factory.  They loved the ice cream at the end of course.  Thank you to those of you who were able to join us.  If you took pics that you would like to share send them to me.  I need some of the girls group since I went in with the boys.

What a Day!

Our lunch got interrupted by the lovely weather and we got to shelter in place in our classroom for about 20 minutes and then went back to finish lunch.  Luckily all was well.

In reading, we read a story called Galimoto where a little boy makes toys out of wire in his village.  We each got some pipe cleaners and made our own creations today during our indoor recess.  They were very creative! 

Winter Wonderland

This morning we got to tour 4th grade's Winter Wonderland exhibit.  The kids loved it.  The fourth graders taught us about how they made their projects and what kinds of circuits they used to make electricity.  We came back to class and the kids were already planning out their projects when they go to 4th grade. 

Our Finished Mural

We finished our Social Studies mural.  It is in the hallway for all to see.  The class did a great job working as cooperative groups, coming up with ideas and creating their murals. 

How Goods Are Made and Brought To Us

We are making murals in Social Studies to show how goods are made and brought to us.  We are going to also write about each process and then hang them up in the hallway.  The class worked really well today in their cooperative groups.   Hopefully the murals will be finished tomorrow and we will start on our interactive writing to go with it. 

Rock Exploration

Today we took magnifying glasses and our rocks and looked at all of their features.  We wrote a description of our rock and answered questions about it's attributes to help us decide if it is igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic.  We will continue our exploration into these types of rocks next week. 

Assembly Line

We are learning about how goods are made and transported in social studies.  Today each table group practiced being an assembly line to make a game.  Each student was a worker with a task to do to complete the game.  Then we watched a video of how crayola makes and packages their crayons. 

Welcome Back!!

We are all adjusting to being back at school.  We have new table groups which seem to be working well.  In Science we are studying rocks so please have your child find a rock and bring it to school tomorrow.  I got a few today.  Friday is auction tshirt day so your child can wear it with jeans.
