Reader's Workshop

We are learning about our characters in reading.  Today we did our independent reading and wrote traits about our character we read about, and then met with our reading partner to discuss our characters. 

The Green Giant

In reading we are working on visualization-creating at picture of our mind of what we are reading.  Today we listened to a poem called The Green Giant by Jack Prelutsky and we drew our mental image of the green giant. 

Pumpkin Patch

We had a great time at Pumpkin Patch today.  Lots of pumpkins and yummy treats!



Writing Kick off Celebration

WOW!  Thank you so much to all of the parents who helped make the celebration a success!  It turned out GREAT!!  We really appreciate your help organizing, decorating, providing the food and cleaning up.  We cannot thank you enough. 

We hope you enjoyed reading your children's writing.  They have worked hard and were so excited to share! 

Place Value

In math we were working on place value today.  We played around with the tens and ones blocks and practiced making numbers and solving numbers.  We also played a dice roll game where we built the number, drew it and wrote it down in tens and ones. 

TGIF

We had a busy week and we are all glad it's Friday!  We played math games today at the end of the day.  They love sumdog!  Have a fabulous weekend!

Busy Week

With only four days this week we were really busy.  Don't forget to study for spelling...only 10 words this week. 

Pumpkin Glyph

For math today we made pumpkins using a glyph to answer questions which determined the features of our pumpkins. 

Amazing Adjectives

Thank you so much for those of you who helped your child with their list of ten adjectives.  We went to the computer lab yesterday with our lists and typed them and then changed the size, font and color.  Today in class we drew a self portrait and then cut out our words to add to the picture.
