We presented our nonfiction reading groups and did an experiment on force and motion with monster trucks. Here are some pictures. Also, Hayden brought his leopard gecko to show the class. It was really neat!
In reading we worked in small groups reading nonfiction texts. We then met with our group, discussed what we learned and made a poster to teach the class about our topic.
We had a wonderful trip to Treemont Retirement Community yesterday. The kids behaved so well and sang beautifully. I am going to make a video with all of the pictures and post it later this week.
Today we wrote persuasive letters to Santa to convince him we should be on the "nice" list. We had to give reasons why as well. They will be displayed in the hallway and I told them I would also make a copy to mail to Santa for them.
Thursday we read some National Geographic for Kids magazines and then met in small groups to talk about what we learned. We also wrote one thing we learned on a chart.
We also made cards for the elderly that we will be visiting at Treemont on Monday. The kids did a great job and made some really nice holiday cards.
We are reading nonfiction books in Reader's Workshop. Today we read and then met with our reading partners to talk about something suprising we learned.
